Nearly 25% of Americans surveyed in a 2023 study had used an illicit drug or misused prescribed medications within the previous year. This statistic highlights the widespread nature of substance use across the United States. Maintaining a safe work environment requires not only adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards but also proactive strategies to address substance-related risks.
Utilizing a 12-panel drug test for regular, random and especially post-incident testing can both significantly reduce, and ultimately deter, drug use in any safety-sensitive workforce.
For new and current employees, drug testing is a reliable way to ensure no one in your workforce becomes a statistic.
Working in safety-sensitive industries such as healthcare, construction, transportation, and security require clear, well-written policy and easily accessible resources to ensure a positive and compliant safety culture.
Soteria Screening Laboratories can assist you in understanding the type of testing that’s best suited for your industry and is compliant with frequently shifting state regulations.
What Is a 12-Panel Drug Test?
Drug tests are typically labeled as either 5-panel or 10-panel screenings. The addition of commonly abused substances and particular variants helps to ensure a broader range of information when it comes to results. These additions to the standard are what you will commonly see labeled as 7-panel or 12-panel tests. Alcohol testing is a separate, yet readily available option.
Negative drug screening results are typically available within minutes. If the collection center is particularly busy, negative results can be made available within 24-72 business hours. Real-time updates through our web portal or software program ensure that all parties involved remain informed and aligned at every stage of the process. Providing instant access to the most up-to-date information electronically eliminates unnecessary delays and potential miscommunication.
Non-negative, as well as inconclusive results, will need to be sent to a laboratory for further testing and review by a Medical Review Officer (MRO). This process ensures thoroughness and integrity of the drug screening results. This additional testing and review may prolong the results up to a week.
We and our partners understand that when it comes to drug screening, timely and reliable results are essential. Accurate testing and fast turnaround times help to maintain compliance and minimize downtime. Our ultimate goal is to deliver results that are accurate and trustworthy so operations can continue running smoothly and safely.
What Does a 12-Panel Drug Test Test For?
We have 3500+ nationwide testing facilities that offer both urine sample and hair follicle sample 12-panel testing.
The main difference between urine sample and hair follicle testing is the metabolization window.
Urine tests show drugs that have been present in the system within the past 5-7 days. Hair follicle testing has a much wider detection window, and is able to show metabolized illicit substances in the system going back 90 days.
Substances included in the screening are:
- Amphetamines (including Methamphetamines)
- Barbiturates
- Benzodiazepines
